“A historically grounded drama that lets audiences witness the moment 18-year-old Mary Shelley gives life to Frankenstein, the first great work of horror and science fiction… Mary Shelley: Year With No Summer is more than a literary origin story; it’s a portrait of a young woman navigating grief, love, and intellectual ambition in an era that offered her few freedoms. ” Kathleen Kaiser, Ojai Valley News
“Five brilliant, rebellious Romantics take refuge from a climate catastrophe in a lakeside villa — and decide to conjure monsters…“ Talk of the Town, Bret Bradigan
“Ojai Performing Arts Theater’s Mary Shelley: Year with No Summer, written by Jule Selbo and directed by Richard Camp, floods the stage with ink, storms and hauntings of the conscience in its world premiere at the Matilija Theater… it’s all on Mary Shelley’s terms — the original mother of monsters and science fiction, and all-around Gothic girl boss.” Mimi Walker, Ojai Culture
